The Edward Coffey Project

NOTE:  I have eight Edward Coffey Project DVD's remaining from those that I produced on May 12, 2013 for sale at the just completed 2013 Coffey Cousins' reunion.  I will sell these on a first come-first serve basis for $10 plus postage.  That should be around $12.80.

Send check or cash only to Jack Coffee, 308 Summer Ridge Loop, Sunset, LA 70584 and, I will immediately send the packet to you.

The Edward Coffey Project is my effort to accurately compile the descendants of Edward and Ann Powell Coffey.  I rely on my own original research as well as that of trusted Coffey researchers that I know.  Chief among those is Dr. Marvin Coffey (dec'd) whose well documented book and supplement (both out of print) about his ancestor, James Bluford Coffey - takes us back to Edward and Ann and cites many original sources that he personally viewed.

As of Apr. 1, 2013, the Project contains 35,674 people, 11,278 families, 83,708 events (births, marriages, etc); 1482 sources with 31,162 citations and 7905 multimedia items.  These numbers grow daily as I add information.

The project is outgrowing the DVD and, as a result means fewer large multimedia files.  I will reduce their size, hopefully without reducing resolution, in order to get as many as possible on the DVD.  However, if I need to omit any, I will - in many cases - be able to provide a link to the website where they can be downloaded.

A DVD containing all project research, including photos and other documents thus far found can be ordered by clicking on the Pay Pal button found on the right side of this page and on each blog.

Researchers now have two choices available:
  • The first is a full DVD containing all of the Edward Coffey Project, including documents that I have collected.  Documents include death certificates, birth certificates, marriage certificates, headstone photos, individual photos, etc.  That DVD will cost $35.00 plus postage.
  • The second option is a DVD containing only the genealogy.  That DVD will cost $25.00 plus postage
First class postage rates and delivery confirmation to any address you specify within the continental US is currently $2.80.

Contact me for foreign postage rates.

You do not have to be a member of Pay Pal to use the service.

If you prefer, you can order by check by e-mailing me for my mailing address.

This is the first screen you will see.

When the DVD auto-starts (If it doesn't then auto-start is disabled on your computer and you will have to enable it before you can begin.) you will be given a webpage view with several options:

Descendants of Edward Coffey
Surnames - A list of all surnames on this site
Names - A list of all names on this site
Sources - A list of all sources on this site

They are pretty much self-explanatory and are followed by a link to the Coffey Cousins' Clearinghouse website and, one to the Coffee/Coffey Call blog, which I edit. I often post updates to my research there.

If you click on Descendants of Edward Coffey you will be taken to the very first page where you will find information about Edward and his wife Ann Powell as well as their known children. Links to following pages are highlighted. Clicking on his son John, for example, will take you to his family where similar links will take you to his children, their children, etc.

If a picture of an individual is included, you will see a small camera icon. By clicking on that icon another page will open displaying the photograph.

The superscript numbers you will see are also active links. They represent the source where the fact (e.g., death, birth, marriage, etc) was found. Clicking on that number will take you to the page where that source is defined. If it tells you that a headstone, death certificate, etc. was the source, you will most likely find that photograph or document on the DVD. To view it, you will have to use your file browser to locate and view the file. This is done by double clicking on the file name. Unfortunately, this particular genealogy software does not allow me to place a direct link to anything other than photos of individuals within the dialogue about that person.

Clicking on the Descendants of Edward Coffey option results in opening this page

At the bottom of this page you will find links to his children:

If you have any questions/reservations about this project before deciding to purchase, feel free to write to me.  I will tell you if your particular ancestor's family is represented.
